About the Job
Under the Psychiatrist’s leadership, the PMHNP is responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations and follow ups to children, adolescents, adults and/or families at B & T HEALTH’s Oak Ridge office location. This contractor/PMHNP is responsible for evaluating an individual to determine if their symptoms meet criteria for an Axis I diagnosis in accordance to the Diagnostic Manual Edition 5 and to determine the need for Medication. The principal functions of the position identified shall not be considered as a complete description of all the work requirements and expectations that may be inherent in the position.

TASKS:
  • Provides a thorough psychiatric evaluation and medication management services of the client’s mental health/substance use condition in order to accurately and appropriately diagnosis an individual.
  • Provides direct patient care services within the scope of their PMHNP License and assists with the overall medical quality management of the facility.
  • Writes prescriptions for medications suitable to manage the presenting symptoms.
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of the Diagnostic Manual Edition 5/ (ICD-10)
  • Reviews and responds to electronic and hand written mail, phone calls, and other correspondence timely (within 24 hours or next available business day)
  • Complete required documentation, including progress notes, assessments, orders and prescriptions in a professional and timely manner.
  • Works effectively with culturally diverse groups and individuals experiencing an exacerbation of either psychiatric, substance use and/or medical symptoms.
  • Abides by all safety/risk, infection control and other guidelines as required within JCAHO standards of practice
  • Follows Agency’s policies and procedures.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Graduated from an accredited PMHNP school recognized by the state of Tennessee and maintains compliance with State of Tennessee issued continuing education requirements.
  • Licensed to practice as an PMHNP within the state of Tennessee.
  • A minimum of two-year psychiatric experience in hospital based or outpatient medical practice setting.
  • Has a Supervising Physician assigned to them.

LICENCES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Tennessee Driver License.
  • Abuse registry and FDLE clearance.
  • Active professional license to practice in the State of Tennessee.
  • Must maintain a safe driving record with no more than 4 points on the Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  • Current CPR certification.

DOCUMENTING AND RECORDING:
  • Entering, recording, storing or maintaining information in written or electronic format abiding by program requirements.
  • Knowledge of English grammar and syntax.
  • Computer literate and proficiency to internet, EMR systems, and email.
  • Reports and documents incidents following established procedure.
